CleanMyMac is Adware

Neither. CleanMyMac is Adware. It will tell that you have a problem with your Mac and give you a phone number to call. The person on the other end of that line will try to sell you support for a problem that you don’t have.

MacBooster I don’t see as often, but if you want to consume less energy, just open the activity monitor and figure out which processes are running that are draining your system. Installing more programs that run in the background will only make your problem worse.

Make sure that you check System Preferences>Users and Groups> Login Items to see what is running at startup. The only thing that is recommended there is iTunes Helper (which lets you know when there is an update to run).

Also consider removing browser extensions, making sure that Flash is disabled and think about running a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac Special Offer:
